Property Transfer and Conveyancing in the KZN Midlands

Understand what a conveyancer does, how long transfer takes, what it costs, and what can cause delays in the property transfer process.

What does a conveyancer do?

A conveyancer (transferring attorney) manages the legal process of transferring property ownership from seller to buyer. They prepare documents, liaise with banks and municipalities, pay transfer duty to SARS, and lodge documents at the Deeds Office for registration.

The transfer process

  1. Offer to Purchase signed by both parties
  2. Conveyancer appointed and FICA completed
  3. Bond approval (if applicable)
  4. Rates and levy clearance obtained
  5. Compliance certificates provided
  6. Transfer duty paid
  7. Documents lodged at Deeds Office
  8. Registration and new title deed issued
